Dennis Martire

Dennis Martire’s career with the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) began in 1990. Over the past three decades, he has carved out a long and fulfilling career as a dedicated union official. Dennis has emerged as a pivotal leader, spearheading numerous successful initiatives within LiUNA. His journey saw a significant milestone in March 2000 when he was appointed Assistant Regional Manager of the Mid-Atlantic Region. Two years later, he ascended to the role of Vice President and Regional Manager, positions he has held since January 2002.

One of the crowning achievements of Dennis Martire’s leadership was his instrumental role in the Fluor-Lane expansion project of Route 495 Hot Lanes. He championed the workers’ right to choose union membership, resulting in an overwhelming vote to join LiUNA Local 11. This victory was one of the most significant in Virginia’s construction industry in recent years.

Another testament to Dennis Martire’s commitment to workers’ rights was his relentless work with Montgomery County, Maryland officials to pass a prevailing wage law. This law ensures that working families receive fair wages, while also guaranteeing that taxpayers see a higher return on their public investments. Studies consistently show that prevailing wage laws do not increase employer costs but do enhance worker efficiency, leading to faster and more streamlined public works projects.

Dennis Martire also oversees LiUNA’s comprehensive training program, which offers continuous education to members. This program covers a broad spectrum of subjects and specialties, helping workers perform their tasks more competently and efficiently. This ongoing training not only aids workers in advancing their careers but also assures employers that union workers maintain a high level of competence and efficiency.

In summary, Dennis Martire’s career with LiUNA stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of union workers. His leadership has left an indelible mark on the organization and continues to inspire those within the labor movement.
